Dr. Joel Sailor
Owner/Veterinarian

Town & Country Veterinary Clinic has been located in Starke, Florida for over thirty years. The practice was purchased by Dr. Joel Sailor in 1999. Since that time, Town & Country Veterinary Clinic has achieved accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association and has maintained that status since the year 2000.

Our clinic has been recognized and featured by Veterinary Economics, as well as veterinary companies such as Novartis Animal Health and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. You can also see videos of our staff discussing the importance of nutrition on www.everypeteverytime.com, a veterinary website sponsored by AAHA and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. Our clinic is considered to be a leader in the profession and we try to earn that reputation every day.
Dr. Sailor is frequently asked to speak at veterinary meetings across the country. He has spoken on behalf of Fort Dodge Animal Health, Novartis Animal Health, Bayer Animal Health, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Intervet-Schering Plough, as well as Merck Animal Health.
In summary, you can be assured your pet is receiving the very best care from a clinic and staff that is well recognized as a leader in pet care.

MegaMind aka "Mega"
Clinic Mascot

Mega came to the clinic back in 2013 as a kitten who was very, very sick.  He was able to pull through his sickness, and in the meantime, won over the hearts of everyone here at Town & Country.  He was born with some minor health issues that affect his vision, so he doesn't see well at all, but somehow has managed to map out the clinic and can find his way around pretty well.

He was also very comforting to us when we lost our first (and, at that time, only) clinic cat "Ilean".  Ilean had been around for almost 13 years when she passed away just recently from Feline Pancreatitis.  Mega helped us cope with our loss and has been, once again, emblazoned in our hearts as one of ours.

You may catch glimpses of him when you visit the clinic, although we keep him in our "cat ward" during appointments because he will wander up to any animal that comes in, whether they are friendly or not.  If you'd like to meet him, just ask us.  He loves meeting new people.

Why I like working here:
The greatest boss, an awesome team, wonderful customers, and the cutest pets ever, ... need I say more?  I truly am honored to work with a team that strives to not only continue our medical education, but also to give the best customer service experience to our clients ... and their owners. ;)

Best/Fondest Memory:
When pets who have overcome their sickness come back in for a checkup.  It is a thrill when you see them bounce back and are happy to be alive and healthy again!

Why I like working here:
I absolutely love working here!  We have an amazing boss and a team that I like working with every day.  When you work here, you are always learning.  That's what happens when "providing the best care possible" is our goal.  The cherry on top would have to be the fact that we get to care for our clients' four-legged friends.

Best/Fondest Memory:
There is no way I could pick one memory that stands above the rest.  For the sake of time, I'll just say that we love doing our best while having a little fun.

Since 1999

Why I like working here:
It's great to work in an environment where we have a "team" mentality for our patients so that no one gets pushed aside.  Life doesn't always run smoothly, so being a team and working together really strengthens the relationship between all of us, as well as our clients and patients.

Best/Fondest Memory:
Giving mouth to mouth to a ferret. (true story)

Veterinary Nurse

Years in Practice:
Since 2012

Why I like working here:
I love the job because I love to help animals.  They do not have their own voice, so in a way, I am their voice.  It is a great feeling to know they may come in sick, but in the end, most go home healthy.

Best/Fondest Memory:
There are so many that I can't pick just one.  All the great moments outweigh the sad moments and make it worthwhile.  Every day I gain another best/fondest memory.

Best/Fondest Memory:
Dr. Sailor in full surgical attire, dancing to the song "What Does the Fox Say?" in the surgical suite waiting for his first patient of the day.  It was a VERY entertaining day! :)

Taking my two dogs to this Clinic is like going to visit good friends. Everyone is so friendly and and helpful. Dr. Sailor did surgery on one of my dogs back legs and now he can run like he never had anything wrong. Thanks to Dr. Sailor and his staff my pets are happy and healthy dogs! We love our Vet.

Always a pleasure.. They took me with out an appointment and the wait was minimal.. Dr. Sailor is always great at helping me understand what is going on with my dog and I'm always confident in the care we receive, and that is why we drive nearly an hour to see them!
